We’re looking for a hands-on, detail-driven Accountant to join a small, high-trust investment environment based in the Southern Suburbs. This is not your typical “sit in a silo” finance role, you’ll be right at the heart of the business, working closely with senior leadership and getting exposure across multiple entities, including operations across Africa.
If you enjoy variety, ownership, and being relied on to “just get things done,” this one’s for you.
Day-to-day finance operations
Process and verify invoices, payments, and claims
Raise invoices and actively follow up on outstanding amounts
Manage and reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, petty cash, and control accounts
Ensure all transactions are accurately allocated and supported
Month-end & reporting
Prepare journals and compile monthly management accounts
Review financials for accuracy and reasonableness
Ensure all income and expenses are fully accounted for
Reconcile balances, resolve discrepancies, and maintain clean records
Maintain a complete and audit-ready month-end file
Payroll
Run end-to-end payroll processing
Prepare salary schedules and ensure timely payments
Maintain proper authorization and documentation for all changes
Creditors & cash flow
Reconcile supplier accounts and prepare payment runs
Ensure all expenses are captured or accrued
Support cash flow planning and visibility
Fixed assets & compliance
Maintain and reconcile the fixed asset register
Process depreciation and ensure accuracy of asset records
Handle statutory submissions (VAT, PAYE, UIF, SDL, etc.) and ensure deadlines are met
This role goes beyond traditional accounting. You’ll also get exposure to:
Group finance & strategy
Support consolidation and analysis across multiple entities
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning
Help monitor cash flow and capital allocation across the group
Investment & growth
Assist with evaluating new investments and opportunities
Build and maintain financial models (IRR, payback, profitability)
Track performance of investments and support strategic decisions
Fundraising & external stakeholders
Prepare financial packs for investors and lenders
Support due diligence processes and funding activities
Small, close-knit office, you’ll need to be comfortable working independently
High trust, high responsibility, you’ll be relied on heavily
Exposure to multiple businesses across South Africa and Africa
Occasional travel may be required
This is a role where adaptability matters. Things can move quickly, priorities can shift, and sometimes support is needed outside of standard hours.
Solid experience with accounting systems (Pastel/Sage or similar)
Full payroll processing experience
Strong reconciliation and month-end skills
Comfortable working across multiple entities or complex structures
Highly organised, detail-focused, and deadline-driven
Able to work independently and take ownership
Strong problem-solver with a practical mindset
Own reliable transport
Accurate, timely monthly reporting
Clear visibility of cash flow across the group
Well-managed debtors and creditors
Zero missed compliance deadlines
Trusted go-to person for finance support
